DISPERSAL OF THE LATE SIR W. ABDY'S FINE COLLECTION, I . Nearly '.£9(00 was realised at Messrs. Christie's.rooms, London, in less than two hours for. tho collection of laco formed by tho late Sir William Abdy. - The clou of tho whole collection was an old Italian gold and thread laee flounco •4 yards long and 29 inches deep, which, after a long and spirited contest, sold for <£714. Scarcely less important was an Italian rose-point flounce nearly four yards long, which made JECGO, whilo .£OSO was given for a Point do Vcniso flounce, -i yards 11 inches long, together with! a pair of sleeves en suite. Another magnificent flounco of fino raised Point do Venise, sometimes called Point de France, sold for iiGOO, and two others made ,£SGO and -E5lO respectively.Finally, mention must bo made of an Italian rose-point flounce, 3 yards 19 .inches long, which made JES2O, ami ono of Point do Venise a. la rose, t yards 3 inches long, for which .£5lO was given, Ono hundred pounds was the figure at which the bidding started for a superb Point Argcntan. flodnco patterned, with •pomegranates, which was sold eventually for ,£3lO. Then followed a brisk contest for a flounce of like laco with an escalloped border, tho design of which consisted of vases of flowers anil, doves beneath canopies of scroll work, which was knocked down for tho sum of .£l3O. •
