IProm Our Special Correspondent.! - . . Palmerston, January IS. The committee of St.- John Ambulance Nursing Guild met last evening, when there wero present—Mr. J. A. M'Leavey, (in the chair), Mesdames M'Donald (secretary), and Hewitt, Miss Outram, and SubInspector O'Donovnn. -Tho nurse, reporting for the month of December, seated that. "sevent.v-Ksven visits had been paid to eight, patients. Two patients had been discharged as cured, and one had been removed to the- hospital... The . business transacted was merely routine. At the monthly ballot cf the Palmerston Starr-Bowkett Society -£700 was disposed of free of interest, tho following being successful in the. drawJ. Bleaklcv' (liongotoa), <£,100; Mrs. E. S. icol (Marlon); .£200; A. F.-Anderson (Stratford), =£200. The fortnightly meeting of tho local Lodge of Druids was held last evening. Bro. W. J. Cutler, A.D., occupied tho chair, and there was a large attendanco of members. Thr'eo new members, wero proposed. It was resolved to hold a special summoned meeting next Wednesday evening, to go into the question of the proposed amendments to. the rules. It was arranged to play a cricket match with, the Shannon Lodge on Monday next. After tho passing,of accounts and the conclusibn of routine business, the fourth round of the euchro tournament was played. /
At the Police . Court to-day a 1 numVwr of parents were, fined,, for liot. sending their , children to school, regularly,' the charges being brought by the truant inspector.
