Fifteen yards from liome Longworth was leading, but the winner, by a: great effort, overhauled him inch by inch, and won amid a scene of much excitement. Healy was beaten by several yards. ■■ • The Australian Swimming Union will send a swimmer' to the . "Festival of Empire" sports in England if funds aro forthcoming."
HUNDRED YARDS CHAMPIONSHIP. Sydney, January 17. On Saturday last the 100 yards swimming championship of Australasia was won by Solomons, with Healy second, and Hardwick third. The time was 53 l-ssec. Solomons won by a touch. , BEAUREPAIRE OUT .OF FORM. v (R«. January 17, 9.45 p.m.) Sydnoy, January 17. Frank Beaurepairo, the Victorian swimmer, has gone stale,- and states that he will not race for the championship at Brisbane on Saturday.
VICTORIA ■COLLEGE CLUB. Last evening the Victoria College Swimming Club held a 50 yards handicap race at the 'l'horndon Baths, and' after an interesting contest, G. G. Callender and A. N. Handcock drew for first place in the splendid time of 38 l-ssec. P. Grey was second. The following members also started: G. 51. Cleghorn, lsoc.; 11. Collins, 13sec.; T. W. Ronayne, scr.; E. E. Rutherford, lOsec.; and A. M. Thompson, 13sec.
