ACTION AGAINST SIR A, WEST, DAUGHTER-IN-LAW TABOOED BY ROYALTY. fijf TcleEraph—Pre3s Association—Copyrlcht London, January 16. Mrs. Horace West has brought an action for slander against her father-in-law, Sir Algernon West, P.C., a director of tho Union Bank of London, and a well-known city man.
Mrs. West says that the alleged slander caused her to be excluded from Court functions.
MRS. WEST'S ALLEGATIONS. (Rec. January 17, 10.25 p.m.) Mrs- West's action is being heard bofore Mr. Justice Darling in the King's Bench Court. , ■ Mr. Duke, K.C., plaintiff's counsel, stated that the marriage had been happy for some years, but then, owing to the husband's misconduct, Mrs. West's health suffered, and a deed of separation was agreed upon in 190 S. Sir Algernon West had slanderously informed Viscount Althorpe, then Lord Chamberlain,' Mrs. Asquith, and others, that plaintiff was responsible for the separation, owing to her hopeless extravagance. The Court upheld Lord Altiiorpe's refusal, in the public interest, to disclose whether Sir Algernon West macie a statement to him. The case was adjourned.
