FANCY GOODS MAN AT A SHOW.
KATHER INGENIOUS DEFENCE. (By .Telegraph.-Spccial Correspondent.) VVanganui, January 17. Sir. Kerr, S.M., gave judgment in a rather unusual case to-day, in which a man was charged with retailing fancy goods on tho agricultural show ground on, November 17, which was a statutory half-' holiday. . The Inspector of Factories had warned tho man that his action in retailing the goods was tantamount to keening a shop, a'nd that ho should "not soli his wares on a half-holiday. The man replied that if that were so ho would sell by auction, as he held an auctioneer's license. This was put forward as a defence, and also the contention that defendant was protected by tHc""Wrm" rt havkers" in Section 26 of thu Shops and Offices Act.
