ROYAL VISIT TO INDIA.

' The announcement that. King George intends, in person, to hold a Coronation durbar in Delhi on January 1, 1912 (writes the London correspondent of tho "New York Evening Post") has caused something of a sensation in England, and been received witli rejoicing in India. It is a now departure of great interest and signi.ficance. King- George will bo the first •reigning British monarch to set loot in his Indian Empire, and tho territory under hip rule is'greater than it ever was before. Many of tho great Indian princes who were to visit England next summer to escort him 'at his Coronation, will now remain at home,postponing their personal declaration:; of allegiance until the great 'durbar. Lord Hardinge's term of rule is certain to be numbered among tho most memorable of vice-royalties. That the loyalty of the natives will be greatly stimulated by the bodily presence of their ruler, is not doubted in Government circles, and it is confidently hoped that this creation of a new and unexpected precedent by King George will have a great eiTcct upon the popular unrest which of lain has been assuming such menacing proportions.
