The importance of dairy factories as cheque-paying institutions are sometimes illustrated well .by figures.. ■.-•■• In yesterday's Dominion it was stated that tho North Taranald Dairy Company was paying out .£I7BB for-December, all advance, of .£586 ' on. the December payment of the previous year. . Yesterday the' Ballance Dairy Company was'to have paid to its.suppliers tho Sum of .£7OOO for. milk .supplied to the company during December, and another ,£IOOO in. salaries arid . wages to employees, making a total 'of; .£BOOO. For December month's operations Bivordale Dairy Company will'pay out .£1360, this being at.the rateof dOd; a lb. butterfat. A few of Kaupokonui's suppliers will get about .£IOO of .this total. Riverdale's, amount is large, considering that thero are two other huge dairy concerns •in the samo district, while smaller factories operate not far awny.
