In speaking at Mannheim, B he wished Lieutenant Filchner's Antarctic j expedition success, and declared that the camaraderie of science knew no bounds. Lieutenant Filchner, in replying, said that if he achieved anything he would owe it to tho British explorers who had gone before. .
