MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell," S.M.) SAID TO BE INCORRIGIBLE. A young woman named Georgina Perrett was brought forward for sentence on a charge of theft of a blouse, a hat, and other articles of a total value of £3 10s.j the property of Vera Nelson. Sub-Inspector Norwood stated that the offence had been committed 011 Juno 25 last, and accused had been committed on Juno 28, and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon on condition that she remained ill the" Salvation Army Home for six months. She had remained there for four months and then left with three other girls. The authorities at the Homo described her as incorrigible. The magistrate, after admonishing accused, said that ho did not propose to send her to gaol 011 the present occasion as slio had remained several months in the Home, but she could not expcct a further chance. A fine of 20s. was imposed, with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment. INFORMATION WITHDRAWN. James Stafford Adams, for whom Mr. T. M. Wilford appeared, was charged that he did unlawfully desert his wife and go to reside in Sydney. Mr. A. Blair, on behalf of complainant, asked leave to withdraw the information as a settlement had been arrived at, and his client did not wish to. .press the,

prosecution. The'magistrate said that it was not usual to allow charges to bo withdrawn, but as this was a case or husband and wife it was probably better that leave should be given it maintenance were arranged. The charge , waa accordingly withdrawn hy.lcavc ol . the Court. THEFT OF MONEY. . ; Ralph Fletcher Voice pioaded guilty to theft of £12 ss. 5d., tho property of Walter Abraham Kellow. Mr. E. J. I'itssgibbon, on behalf of accused, asked that sentence might be deferred until this morning. The.. magistrate accordingly remanded accused for sentence. INSOBRIETY. David Taylor, on a charge of drunkenness, was fined 10s., in default ■Iβ hours' imprisonment. Annie M'Gratli, for a similar offence, was. fined os., with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment, and two first offending inebriates were penalised to the same extent.
