In New 3outli Wales ,tho deposits show a shrinkage of £5V6,000, while the advances have' increased by £1,722,000. The comparison iB evidently/ with the previous quarter, and not . with the September quarter of last year. The Yictorian figures compared with a year-ago show an-increase of £3,344,822 in deposits, and £2,413,819 in advances. The Hew Zealand figures Bhow an increase of £2,165,229 in deposits and only £6889 increase in advance. There is no great demand for bank accommodation owing to the general slackness in enterprise. The situation here is much less favourable than it is in either New South Waltes or Viotori'.a.
