CRICKET. FIRST CENTURY OF THE SEASON, ; MID-WEEK MATCHES. • The Wednesday Association commenced matches yesterday afternoon, in rather dull weather. The wickets on tho Basin Reserve- were in iirst-class condition, and played admirably. Waters, playing for union, put together 100 in a nice, taking style, some of his strokes being really pretty, while M'Eldowjiey, playing for Oriental, made 86 by hard, clean : driving.
