EXPORT SLAUGHTERING.
1 OPENING OF THE SEASON.
The slaughtering season ie to open an October 24 at Messrs. Borthwick Brothers' works at Paki Paki, Hawke'a Bay. Export slaughtering will probably commence next week at the Wellington Meat Export and - Gear Companies' works. Both, companies are at present engaged in the slaughter of lambs for local consumption. It is expected that ihe new, works ai; Wainga-wa, near Masi terton; will open about the beginning of December. Foremen have been already selected for the various "departments, and there are' about fiftv applications from slaughtermen for "hooks." .Accommodation has been. provided for about twenty butchers.'. The Waingawa « '(works are to be run' by a body of Waisrarapa fanners on a co-operative basis.
