Amongst 1085 minors examined, 33 per cont. of tho machine workers were suffering from miners' phthisis, against 7'per cent, of tho non-mnchino miners, 3.por cent, of the truckers, - and SI per cent., of the dry-treatment workers. Lung tuberoulosis was present in 28 eases.' ' Tuberculosis is described in tho report as an infectious disease rather than- an industrial disease. Measures for'. its eradication should not stop at oxolusion of infected persons from mines,'- but should inolude segregation of tubcroulpus persons who come into close association with miners. Phthisis was solely due to" inhalation of mineral dust.
