The Mayor • (Mr. ' Goodbehere) put the proposal to. tho 'Borough Council, which readily agreed. It' waa then ;furtSerVw®gpsw : invitation should bo ; sent to' the Gov.efiior by hand, the Boy Scouts undertaking to deliver tie dispatch. This suggestion was also accepted, and, on Saturday morning, at - 5.30 o'clock, ■ four of Feilditijg's Boy Scouts eagerly .set out on tho unique adventure, being 'tho '.first . dispatch -. carried ' across country to a' Governor since tlie days of the Maori War. " The Feilding: boys, took -j it 1 ■to Woodvillo, where the local patrol carried it on to the nest patrol, and so on it went right down through the Wairarapa. It intended to deliver the dispatch at Government House, Wellington, > and arrangements had been mado with the Boy Scouts of Kaitoke, Hutt,- Petone, and Wellington to-take it. on.-from the patrol at Featherston, but, when it' was; discovered that his • Excellency and: staff were at Featherston; the patrol of -the latter place were asked to deliver the dispatch at the Governor's oountry.xesidenco.
