DR. CHAPPLE'S ALLEGATIONS,

Tlio London newspapers have published Dr. Chappie's allegations that barges used for carrying Australian meat were contaminated with bilge-water and cockroaches. ' Sir J. \V, Taverner, Victorian AgentGeneral, interviewed by the "Westminster Gazette," denied that insanitary circumstances existed in connection with the unloading. The men, ho said, wore special shoes; and the Port of London's inspection was very severe. \ ; THE AUSTRIAN MEAT SHORTAGE.
