'• : : IMPORTED' AMERICAN TREE. : Some two or three years ago Mr. Bllingham, of "Mahgahuia," Makairo, showed me. some young, catalpa trees which he had purchased from.the, Government nurseries, (says- pur travelling 'correspondent). These'trees.;are supposed' to be a very valuable tree ,in any farm, • making .'capital' fencing/material, "and 'excellent' firer wood,.but so far Mr. Ellirigkam's experiment /of catalpas:!iS Jthat -they don't suit'his. particular: locality. Many have "died, 'and the rest are. doing,little good. .This, I 'have ' found':'; in Mother'.places' where farmers had been ihduced-to try these trees..' 1 have not', yet come across justified, v the;good name which/.the tree-has obtained in America— its home; '... '•'•■ : . ; '■••'.,''.
