BEBAtfi IN THE COUNCIL. WATER POWER. - BILL READ A SECOND TIME. MUNICIPAL,LAW. Yesterday was a fairly busy day in iJEarliament. In the Legislative! Council tlio second reading debate ou tlio Dofonco Amendment Bill was continued. Otliei measures were also briefly consideied. There was an interesting discussion in tho Houso in the afternoon on the Aid to (Water Power Bill, which passed jits second reading. In the evening (when Jtho Premier was absent) a number of imeasures woie advanced a further ■stage. [These included tho Municipal Corporaffeons Bill, which has now reached tho tCammitteo 'stage. Tho Acting-Premier j(the Hon. J. Carroll) had good reason to (be satisfied with the progress that was made, and at his instance tho adjournment of the Houso was moved "at 11.45 b— tho earliest hour of rising for a iderabld period. x
