School,;- Taranaki Street, which'was.begun with; special services last Sunday; was consummated by means of a tea and a meeting in ■ the ohurch last evening. Mr. William Prince presided at the meeting, which was opened' with, singing, and prayer by the Rev. S.J. Serpell.: . ; v .'■ . . „• -'■ /The sixty-ninth annual report, which was read by the. Hon. • secretary, Mr. H. B. Grave, stated that thero were 40 teachers and officers'on the roll,'with an average, ■'. attendance of 35. '• The number •■■ of scholars on the roll, was 610, the average attendance being 389. .During-the ,'year. the school had lost 89 scholars by removals, but 207 new scholars had been gained. Sinco the inception of the school 8122-soholars had passed, through it. The infant'.class, which .'was known throughout Australasia. for its efficiency and up-to-date' methods,-' was conducted by specially qualified teachers.. It had 227 scholars on its roll .with,, an average at-,' tendance of-127.. The report mentioned, as special features of tho infant depart-, ment, the recognition of every, scholar s birthday, the r 'cradle roll" (on which parents are invited to register their babies, and thus identify them with .the school from infancy),' and the visits of parents and friends of the children to the school. The cradle roll numbered. 710, including 46 enrolled during the year. There were 710. signatures in the visitors book during the' yfear. The interest in the young '.- men's, and young _ women s Bible classes was well maintained. Bighteon scholars entered for the Sunday School Union examinations, with creditable results to the school. Doris Graves (first in grade 3) and Hettie Calvert obtained prizes, the other competitors receiving pass and honour certificates. For creditable tablet work many of the ; soholars ■ received prizes during the y«ar, but it waa hoped that in the future increasing numbers would take part in these examinations. The library contained a splendid selection of young people's bosks, numbering 1357, and was greatly used by the. scholars. The following officers had been elected for the ensuing year:—{superintendent, Mr. J. C. Garrard; secretary, Mr H. B. Graves; Assistant secretary, Mr. M. A. Strong; librarian, Mr. W..A. (Jrenfell; infant class teacher, Mr. h. Tiller; primary class, Mr. Barrett. Tho balance-sheet for-the year ended Senfember, 1910, showed: Keceipts, .£222 Cs 3d.; expenditure, JB2U 17s. 7d.; balance in bank, .£7 Bs. Bd. .
