MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.

On Thursday evening the Missions to Seamen Institute wad adorned with Hags, of a. patriotic nature. The flower-dockod tables were prettily set out, and tho many , guests who went to tho _ "parcel" tea spent a very pleasant evening. Mrs; Williams, tho generous donor of tho mission building, was tho h'ostess, and received tho arrivals personally. An enjoyableprogramme of music was arranged by Air. and Hiss/Graham, tho following assisting :—Misses Toychenno and liliclc, Mrs. Harper, Mcssrs.'Beavis and Harper. Tho parcels woro opened by Mr. Moore in tho preseuco of -the visitors, who greatly enjoyed watching the revelations from' the brown paper coverings. They were useful and pretty, and will bo a good nucleus for tho "Coniet" bazaar, to bo held in August. Mr. Mooro gave an interesting account of tho working of the Missions to Seamen, and Mr. Or. W. Barltrop, on • behalf of tho local committee said that by the donations and sympathy of thoto present it was mado possible to carry on this work, and ho therefore' expressed tho heartiest thanks. The institute was well filled last night, when tho weekly ambulance meeting was held. Mr. James Mooro, the missionciy gavo demonstrations showing tho methods of stopping bleeding artories, and how to bandage such cases, Ho also showed how to treat a person, should his clothes catch fire, • and gavo various hints rolating to health matters. Competitions in connection with first aid were. held, and won by sailors from ships in port. Miss Lawson had arranged a very enjoyable programme of music, the following contributing vocal and elocutionary items: Misses V. Cameron, Miller, and Newman, and Master. C. Worlto. Miss Dahl acted as accompanist. The performers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the. conclusion of tho meeting.
