SEVEN YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. . Napier, July 1. A man named "William George HewSon, aged sixty-three, years, who had pleaded guilty at Wairoa to a charge of attempted criminal' assault ou a littlo girl, was to-day sentenced by Mr.- Justice Edwards to seven years' imprisonment, with hard labour. Prisoner had been convicted, of a similar offence just thirty, years ago. -

NEW COAL FIELD REPORTED. Christchuroh, July L ' It is reported that a .new coal field has been discovered on the Greenhills Estate, near Kaikoura. ' Samples of the coal have been received in Christchurch, and it,'is. intended, to get an analysis made, and , have a further prospect of the field.
