The Makura, from Vancouver, kept in wireless communication with Vancouver over a distance of 2080 miles. The messages towards the close were somewhat weak. SUCCESS OF PIKE DETECTOR. Sydney, June 13. Mr. J. H. A. Pike, the Arncliffe wireless operator, who has invented a peculiarly delicate and sensitive detector, picked up the Makura (from Vancouver) 900 miles off the New South Wales coast, and kept up communication with her.
