FEDERAL ATTITUDE. Bj Telecraph—Press Association—Oopydaht (Rec. Juue 11, 0.40 a.m.) , Melbourne, Juno 13. Mr. Fisher, Federal Prime Minister, states that tho Federal Government will bo glad to co-operate with the Imperial Government in putting a stop to tlie indiscriminate slaughter of birds for plumage. .In Papua (New Guinea) native birds have been protected, but as regards the mainland of Australia, tho Commonwealth' Government can only seek the assistance of the States and pass legislation ■prohibiting the export of plumage.
