Referring to his recently completed official visit to the Taupo district, Mr. Kensington, Under-Secretary for Lands, stated that le was very pleased with everything that he had seen in connection with the Waiotapu tree-planting reserve. Out of tho whole' of the trees that had been planted, ovor 2600 acres, there had been no failures to and the trees had done remarkably well. In fact, the growth of the trees' had quite exceeded his expectations. Asked if it were- proposed to extend the area to be planted, Mr. Kensington replied that that matter would probably reccivo tho attention of tho' Government at an early date.
