PRIMITIVE METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.

Very successful services were held in the Primitive Methodist Church in ■Donald M'Lean Street last evening in connection with the celebration of the anniversary, of tie Sunday School. A tea, which was well attended, was held in the schoolroom early in the evening, and when that was over, everybody adjourned, to the church where the public meeting was held. The Bev. E. A. Sims presided, and with him was associated the Rev. Mr. Harris, the newly-appointed minister to the Primitive Church at Island Bay. The annual report and balance-sheet indicated that the past year had been a prosperous one. The collections were better than they had ever been, and the roll of the Sunday school Showed a sh'gfct increase in numbers. Several recitations and hymns were delivered by tiho children during the evening, Mr. Fettham the superintendent conducting the .latter. A collection for the object of raising money to build more classrooms to carry on tho school work was taken up. During tho course of the evening, the Rev. Mr. Sims, in tho course of a short speech, addressed a word of welcome to the Rev. Mr. Harris who had lately come to Wellington from Auckland. The speaker stated that he had known Mr. Harris for many years, and the people at Island Bay were fortunate in having him for their minister. Mr. Ha-rris, thanked those present for then- kind welcome. A presentation was. made bo Mr. Sande by Mr. Sims, on behalf of the teachers and scholars as a recognition of tho. work which ho had dono among them. Prizes were then presented to the children by Mrs. Sims, a gold medal for dux being won by Reginald Ridding and a silver medal by Ida George. Appreciation of the valuable work done by Mr. Potter, who is now leaving with his wife for England, was expressed and Mr. Potter returned thanks.
