Russell, who is a candidate for i the Lower Hutt Mayoralty, will address a' meeting of ratepayers on March 31 on current topics. _ A crowded house is expected at the Lower Hutt Recreation Club's concert m the Town Hall to-night. The local dramatic Club will be seen in two playlets, ; viz., "Cinders" and "Hook and Bye. The dharacters will be sustained by the Misses Ellen Jensen, Valforg, Jensen, and Messrs. J. CnuVdBell, Nicholson and Lee. . The annual meeting of the Petone Referees' Association was held on Monday night, Mr. C. P. Brocklebank presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual .report showed that fifty-four appointments had been made to local matches and in no case had a referee failed, to put in an appearance, .which speaks well for the •enthusiasm' of members. - Mt. Brocklebank was elected chairman for the year and seclietary pro tem. ■ It was decided to meet every" Fri9ay evening commencing oh April 1.
