THE WAVERLEY SHOW.' The second annual show of the Waverley A. and P. Association was' held on the local recreation, ground on Thursday in fine weather.. The main feature of the'show is , tho horse ..classes, the only■• other live-stock- exhibits being a few pens of fat. sheep. and : lariihs, and tho dogs. There was good exhibition of home industries, and a quantity of vegetables and fruit was shown. .The horse classes and events were judged by Mr. Hu"h Gillies, of Palmerston North, who remarked that he had never seen at any show in the Bominion such a fine stamp of horse in all classes as those shown at "VVaverley. Mr. Fred. Johnson's Nugget carried off first prize as genertil-pur-pose horse,, and also as a spring-cart horse. The open leaping competition was won by Mr. Norman Moore's Lattefos, which was splendidly ridden by Mr. Campion. The points prize for the best hack on the ground was won by Mr. Gordon Aiken's "entry. The; result of the wood-chopping competition was: 0. Mather, 1; G. W. .Eichardson, 2; Bill. Kvans, 3. ■'■' ■

The Romneys were about the best section in purebred eheepattheKaikoura show on "Wednesday, and those shown by Mr. S. Andrew woujd, in tho "Press" reporter's •opinion, do credit to any .show. The cattle section was surprisingly good, some excellent Shorthorns being shown. The fat stock exhibited proved the fattening capabilities of the district, • some wollfiuished and weighty animals being varded, while some good types of much cattle showed that dairying breeds are not being neglected. . ■
