T. Keith Ewouy was in tho chair.., Theftov, W, Shiref ' delivered an address dealing ..with the needs .of . the Church. He.pointed out that there, waa Urgent need for practical piety and practical ' mysticism'. Eiideavou'rers .'would do well, he Said, to instil into their Christianity the practical element—commons sense doing and acting. In regard ; to the second point, Mr. Shirer said that there were profound' mysteries .in relation to'i the - personal-- Christ, and the hnion of believers to Him. That union need not necessarily. be dreamy or obscure. The' Apostle Paul waS a mystic, but, withal, intensely practical. It had been said that ".one-sided overstrained .mysticism ,lcd to its. bppoMte, bhe-sided rationalism/' In illustration .of the heed for the practical the speaker quoted several Scriptural examples of..' practical men..
