Ropairs' to the Potone wharf are nearing completion. There are only four more piles to be placed, in position, and these should be finished this week." These piles (which are being driven 80 feet below the bottom)' are' spliced together' and • firmly secured ..by iron bands, and . after being driven home are drawn to ail angle to increase . their' stahility. The repairing work is probably more difficult than the original i construction .as . a considerable portion of the wharf has. to be removed to allow the new piles to bo placed in position. On Friday evening last a man named Matthew Lewis was arrested for ■ drunkenness. It'appears that he had. fallen, from tho top of tlio overhead bridge leading to the railway workshops, sustaining a large wound on the back of his head. Dr. Ross, who vas summoned, found it necessary to put two stitches in the wound. Oil Saturday morning Lewis .was brought before Mr. R; Mothes, J.P.', to; answer the charge of drunkenness. , .He was convicted.'and ordered to liay cost of medical attention', 10s. Gd. , The;. Hon..
