In connection with tho disastrous floods in tho States of Nuovo Loon and Coahuila, Mexico, Reutor's Agency roports that there are 1200 dead and 15,000 homeless at Monterey, tho capital of Nuovo Loon. The damago, is estimated at £4,000,000.
Over 17 : inches of rain fell on' Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The greatest losses occurred on.Saturday, when the great buildings began to crumblo and fall. Many of the roofs woro orowded with hundreds of people, most of whom disappeared. Ninety women and children took refuge in a schoolhouse, but,tho rising water drove them from floor to floor. , While two priests were blessing them the walls of tie house ooUapsod, and all wore drowned A VALLEY OF DEATH. RESERVOIR WATERS ADD TO RAGING CURRENT. WATER FAMINE FEARED. <Rcc. August 31, 9.35 p.m.) Mexico, August SI. Tho number of persons Chat, perished at Montorey is 1400. One-fourth of ; tho city has been destroyed. The water mains have;been rendered useless, consequently there, is no drinking watery and a famine is feared.
