THIRD-CLASS .. CHAMPIONSHIP. regard to Karori Club, Templars Uub, and _ . the third-class championship generally, Mr. A. Dryden, t hon. , secretary ieinplars Cnckct Club, writes as follows:— In last Saturday's issue there was a short article about' the Karori Crickot-Club, which it was stated had won 'all eight matches, seven with an innings to spare, and the ether "y .8 wickets. On .behalf of one of tho'teams which met Karori, I beg to state that we wero defeated by. only 126 runs. Certainly the suburban,team closed: their second innings with, two wickets down, but that does not constitute an innings or eight wickets victory. Whilst not in any way begrudging Karori' tho honour' of thiruTclass champions, I do not think Karori should have boon allowed to play all their matches this season' on their own. wicket, which* is -of cocoanut mottmg. The rest of the thirdclass teams are used to turf. wickets, and when they moot Karori-must in consequence suiter defeat, Karori players being so familiar with their own wicket. As all the other teams have 'to travel, to Petono or Hutt to play the fixtures, why cannot Karori ,travel , say ovory second game? With all the travelling;entailed to play different fixture, I think you will agreo with mo, sir, that the Templars team can show an equally good reoord as Karori. Karori played eight and won eight, tho Templars played nine and won eight, tho only loss being by Karori as beforo mentioned. Templars did not play on tho samo wicket twice, and secured full three-point wins on tho eight matches.
