Not only wero thoy able to , pay for the new church and the furniture, but there waa a small balance in hand. The ordinary revenue had also increased. The subscriptions (there are no seat rents) show an advance of £13 and the special collections'of £36. Mr. Kay thanked ; all those who had helped him to carry out the work he had begun five yoars ago. He was very glad to leave on his' trip with the knowledge that tho church was free of debt, and that every seat in it was "free." The annual report stated that the year had been a most eventful one. On October 10, 1908, the foundation stone of St. Luke's was laid. The church was'opened for service on February >13, 1909, and'oonsecrated bv the Bishop on March 28. The total cost of the. building was about £1150, which does not l include the cost of the land. The vestry report a decided increase in tho subscriptions, to the amount of £13, and an inorease. in .the special collections amounting to £36. This is specially satisfactory, taking into account tho large sum rained in the district for the new church. . The vicar has been granted leave of absence, and he has arranged with the Rev. Mr. Oomptqn and the Rev. Mr. Ward for the continuance of tho services as at present while.he is away. During the year Miss Lowo resigned her posi-. tion as superintendent of the Sunday School, desired to thank her for her many years of service to tho Sunday School. The committee, of St. -Anne's, Northland, have paid their way during tne year, increased/their ixmtoibutions to the general church fund, and paid £50 off their church:' debt by means of a special collection in .
