Otherwise the announcements cannot be published.] An Afternoon Tea. -.Yesterday afternoon the Misses Morrah gave an "at home," when,'..in spite of tho drenching rain, a largo number of guests wore present. Mrs. Morrah received in a frock of black silk, relieved with cream laco; Miss Graco Morrah's. empiro frock was of pale blue glace; Miss Ida Morrah and her sister, Miss N. Morrah, woro pretty cream frocks; and Mrs. Edward Morrah (from Palmerston North,.who is visiting them), wore a white silk frock, trimmed with white laco. The tea-tablo was prettily decorated with pink and white. cosmeas_ and pink shaded candles in silver candlesticks. A feature of tho afternoon was a. very amusing competition, in which questions had to be answered by the names of Wellington streets. The competition was won by Miss Butts. Among tho many guests present were Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. M. Burnett, Mrs. Mitford, Miss Rawson, Mrs. Johnston, tho Missc3 Harding, Miss Edwin, Mrs. D'Arcy Chaytor, Miss Burnett, Miss Von Dadelszen, tho Misses Turner (2), Miss Wilson, Miss Butts, and tho Missos Seed (2). 'The Girls' .Realm Guild. The Kia Ora Centro of the Girls' Realm ' 'Guild is giving an afternoon tea and sale of work on May Day, to raise- funds for helping various charities during the winter months, and to provide material for tho Sowing Bee to work on. They intend to have various stalls and: competitions. Mrs. Findlay is visiting Napier. Mrs.,Hulme (Otaki) is staying with Mrs. Morrah. ' Dr. Agnes Burnett returned last night from a few days' visit to' Napier. Mrs. Heaton and Miss Felicia Heaton, of Western Hutt, are spending a few > weeks' holiday iin Auckland Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Fitzgerald, with Miss and Master Pharassyn, left yesterday by the Corinthic for England. Mr. and-Mrs. Huston Curlett, of Christchurch, who arrived here by the Maheno, leave to-morrow on a trip to Nelson. Miss Ledger, from Nelson, who has bcon the guest of Mrs. T. Ward, on the Terrace, for some'time, returns to Nelson to-day. Tho Misses Eaviell left by tho Maheno yesterday on their return to Sydney, -via Auckland, and many friends were down to see them off. Mrs. Hislop, who is suffering from a slight chill, was rather hotter yesterday, but not well enough to allow any definite arrangements to be made about the presentation to her. Tho committee now hope that it will be possible to arrange for the tea in her honour to take place on Tuesday, but, if so, |an advertisement about this will probably appear in Monday's paper.
