HAWKE'S BAY TRAWLERS DISPUTE.

AMICABLY SETTLED. (BI TELEGUirH—riIESS ASSOCIATION.) ' Napier, April 22. A se-ttloment of the Hawke's Bay trawling dispute was brought about this afternoon, when employers and omployees held a conference with Sir; P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, in the chair. The following is a summary of the clauses embodied in the now agreement:—' ."■' ''■'■'■'', Wages: Class 2 (trawler Muriel), master 325. : 6d., engineer 325. 6d., deck hand 20s. and to receive ' 7 per cent, commission on the gross catch, valued upon the basis of 7d. por.hundle for round fish and Bd. per bundle for flat fish; boy, 305., and li per cent, on gross catch at same values. Class 3 (trawlers Fairy, Savii, Pania, Result, Dote, and Pilot), master, 325. 6d.; engineer, 325. 6d.; deck hand, 205., and to receive 8J per cent, commission on ; gross cateli, valued upon the basis of 7d. perlwndle for round fish and Bd. per bundle for flat fish; boy, 305., and 2£ per cent, on gross catch, at same values. Class 4 (trawler Ithaca): Existing arrangements to continue. Phantom, Countess, and Sir William Wallace to continue as at present or .change to new system if they should so desire. All wages to be paid weekly,. on. The omploj'ees.have undertaken to repair any. ordinary damage to nets, and the employers agree,to have a clause inserted in future insurance policies in order that the men shall be covered whilst-working. Under the now ■'agreement : the system whereby crews' were compelled to pay for coal, oil, water, and waste.has been abolished.. No work is to bo.done, on Saturdays, and employers undertake not to discriminate against any of the men lately-in their omploy. A committee composed of two owners and two employees has been formed for the purpose'of settling any minor difficulties which may arise. At the close of the meeting a vote of thanks was tendered to Mr. Hally for tho skilful manner-in which he had brought about ». settlement of-the; dispute.
