EXCHANGE OF PULPITS.

•ANGLICANS AND NONCONFORMISTS. |HV TKI.nuUAI'Il —I'HGSS ASSOCIATION-COl'VllinilT.) London, April 7. Sir George Kekewich, Liberal member for Exeter, has introduced in the House of Commons a Bill, enabling Church of Englandand Nonconformist preacliers to exchange pulpits, under certain safeguards. Tho above Bill no doubt arises out of the incident mentioned in our cablegrams a few days ago, wheni in consequence of a protest by tho vicar of Saint Gabriel's, the Bishop of Birmingham (Dr. Gore) inhibited Canon Honson from preaching in tho Rev. .T. H. Jowett'i Free Church institute. Dr. Gore announcec that he himcelf was in favour of Churchmer : being permitted to preach in Nonconformist churches, but he was obliged to enforce thi right of an incumbent to prevent nnothei olergvman from preaching in his parish withou' leave". Sir George Kekewich's Bill, however not only limits (ho powers of an incumbent ii this matter, but also legalises an exchange o pulpits between Anglican and Nonconform!!) ministers. As things arc such exchanges oc casionallv take place, but their legality ha been called in question, and tho Bill would, no doubt, regularise the practice.
