SENDING OUR FRUIT ABROAD.

A NEW ZEALAND GROWER'S INTENTIONS. Mr. T. Horton, tho well-known nurseryman, is to lcavo Wellington on Thursday, April S, for tho Ballarat Autumn Show, which is to bo held this month. Mr. Horton is taking with him the fruit exhibit which was such a feature at the recent Hawke's Bay and Levin Autumn Shows. He will also take'with him, on behalf of Hawko's Bay fruit growers, six/ different varieties of apples grown in that district. These will be packed in Victoria on the Australasian lines, and consigned in freezing chambers to the London market. Later a full report will bo received as to tho manner in which, the fruit fared, and its prospects for sale in the Old Country: This experimental shipment of apples is practically the first of its kind from New Zealand, and the results will be awaited with some interest. . - During his visit.to Ballarat, Mr. Horton will attend, the annual conference of Victorian nurserymen, and discuss the industry generally, with the idea of pushing New Zealand interests forward as much as possible. It appears that an exchange of views is needed, as at the present time' some of tho fruit which is being shipped to New Zealand from Australia is misnamed, a fact which, if not remedied, is likely to lead to some confusion amongst fruit growers.
