It is less than four weeks now before tho municipal elections tako place, and a nuinbor of gentlemen havo intimated their intention of coming forward as candidates for tho City Council. No doubt a further number will an. liounce themselves at a later dato. The following members of tho present council seek 10-election Councillors .1, I'. Luke, J. Smith, A. S.' Biss, R. Fletchor, 1). Sl'Laren, A. 11. Ilindinnreh* Q. W. Shirtclifl'e, \V. H. Alorrah. 1\ Cohen, T. Ballinger, 'J'. Carmieliaei, and W. H. Hales. Councillors SI. Murdoch and J. Godbov do not seek re-election. Tho following Labour candidates aro coming forward: Messrs. W. H. Hampton, W. C. Noot, E. J. Carey. A. H. Cooper, C. 51. Chapman, It, J. Hcardon, D. ll'Laren, and. A. IL llimlmavsh. Tho two last-named occupy seats on tho present council. In addition to tlio above, the following gentlemen iiitoud coming forward-.—Messrs. \V. Jl'Lean, .T. E. Filxgerald, G. Frost, J. Dykes, and A.
