The Mlramar Borough Council met last night. Present The Mayor (Ml\ C. J. Crawford), and Councillors M'Leod, Witt, Cooper, iirodio, and Bell. It was stated by tho Mayor • that a petition' was in circulation with a view to having Saturday made the half-holiday. Ho was not ,suro as to the districts ill which it was proposed tho change should be made. "Saturday won't suit our district," lie added.,The. Municipal Association intimated that, it' was now. suggested that, county councilsi should. bo included in tho proposed Municipal superannuation scheme. A member: "If ive agree to the suggestion, does it follow that wo-fall'in with the scheme P" The Mayor: "Not.atnil," Another member: "I don't think wo should join it." Tho Mayor: "It is a big qufstiou. Altnough I was present at the conference, under tho auspices of tho Municipal Association, I cannot say that I grasped all tile details." It was dccidcd to defer consideration of tho matter until nest meeting.' It was agreed to allow the Brooklyn Presbyterian School to use the Seatoun Pari? on March 20 for tho purposes of a picnic. A member: "Is damage still being dono to tho trees there P" Tliq Mayor: "Oh, yes, the children seem to think that the trees are placed there for them to swing on, and grown up people, who are in charge of them, do,not stop them from harming the trees." • The town clerk was instrutted to request parents and others in charge of the pic-mo to see that no damage was dono. .

With reference to the application of various landowners for a reduction in the prosent, requirements of the borough, in regard to street formation, a committee to whom the matter had been referred intimated that it had 110 recommendation to make, but would consider any applications made upon their respective merits. The Mayor- said that the committee had been asked to go fully into tho matter. It might bo months before any now streets wore made. ■ If any company wished to proceed at'once with their streets and gave an nsfiiraneo that the work Would not bo delayed, the council would favourably take into consideration any application for a reduction-in the requirements, so that the' work might go on and employment given in tho district, The council was not prepared to consider applications of land companies in respect of streets which might not bo formed for years. It was best, lie thought, to treat all applications on their merits when they ' wero sent in. The council did not commit itself to any reduction at all necessarily. It was decided to adopt' tho recommendation. , Accounts were passed for payment as follows District fund account, £391 15b. . 9r1.; improvements' loan account, £318 17s. 7d.
