JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Johnsonville Town Board, which was held on Tuesday evening/ was attended by Commissioners T. Rod (chairman), Moore, Simcox, Bryant, Bould, and Mills; Mr. J. W. Braithwaite was appointed to represent the board as a member of the Assessment. Court. The Makara County Council wrote stating that the quarry on HOrokiwi Road would be required for county use in the future. It was agreed to continue the right-of-way over No. 7 tunnel on the Manawatu railway on the same terms as hitherto. A committee consisting of Commissioners Mills, Bryant, Bould, and the chairman was appointed to see to the carrying out of the work of connecting the roads of Johnsonville to the metalled road on the Hawtrey for which a grant of .£IOO had be,en obtained from the Government. All matters relating to the rules,' scale of charges, etc., in connection with the recreation ground were referred to a committee consisting of Commissioners Moore, Mills, R. Bould, and the chairman._ On the motion of Commissioner Bryant, seconded by Commissioner Mills, it was resolved: " That the Railway Department be requested to take immediate steps to prevent accident at the railway crossing oh the Main Road, either by placing a man there when trains are crossing, or by some other means, and that the engineer be invited to meet members of the board on the ground and discuss details."
