Teams have boon picked from the lluU and I'etono Firo Brigades for the competitions in Auckland next week, and the men are ia active training. The representatives from Petono Brigado will bo':—Superintendent Lepper (delegate), Firemen Gavnor,. Chackj Lustey, Shardlow, Guthrie, and Smith (emergency). Tho team have entered for tho' six high-pressure events and for the laddor raoo (one man), but will not tako part ia tho manual tests. Tho Petone team go to Auckland by Saturday's express. The Lower Hutt team will compriso: Firomen E. llobman, F. Grcig, B. Fleet, J. Doran, J.'Colktt, and 11. Harmon (emergency). Lieutenant M'llvride accompanies tho team as tho delegate from Lower Hutt Brigade. Tho team journey north on Saturday, in order that a coun'lo of days' practice may bo put in before tlio opening of tho competitions on Wednesday. A team of fivo from I'etono Railway Workshops Brigade will also compete, and will leave for Auckland to-morrow. Tho members are: Captain Horno (delegate and emergency), Firemen M'Ewcu, Dee, Byford, Boso, and lidie. Men from tho South Dunedin Fire Brigado will arrive in Wellington to-day, en. route to Auckland, and they purposo having a practice on the- Petono Recreation Ground this afternoon, with tho local gear, proceeding to Auckland by to-morrow's express. In order that Petono may not be in any way loft unprepared for the combating of possible fires, an arrangement has been mado that the vaoancies will bo' filled by firemen 1 of tho Gear Company's brigado. ■ HUTT PARK COMMITTEE. The Hutt Park Committee met in -tlia Mayor's room r.t Petono last evening; present—Messrs. W. H. Russell (chairman), J. W. M'Ewan, M. Hodgins, R. J. Southgate, A. Colnuhoun, and P.' 11. Purser (secretary). On the motion of Mr. Southgate, it was agreed that a nine-hole course be laid out on tho golf links at Hutt Park. The chair-' man pointed out that this smaller coursa would occupy the contro of the park, and players would not be interfered with by tho artillery. "Wo do not wish to see any distinction made on tho golf links," said tho chairman; "they are free to anyone, and aro just as muQh for artisans as for anybody else."; Tho chairman further intimnted that these wero tho first public golf links to bo established in tho Dominion, and ho believed they wero tho first to be opened south of the line. Tho precedent of tho old Scottish links had boeil followed. The committee agreed tliat players on tlio links should bo charged Is. po,r day, and instructed that a room bo set aside for tho solo use of golfers. A letter was road from Lower Hutt' Borough Council asking tho committee to mako other arrangements for having tho clerical work carried out, but tho committee decided to ask Mr. Purser to retain tho position of secretary until tho committee should go out of office* in April. Mr. Purser consented to do so.

Mr. M'Ewan moved, and it was agreed, that the chairman endeavour to arrange witli Mr. A. E. Pearce, chairman of the Hutt Park llacecourse Board, for the collection of £25, balance of rent due to the committee. Lower Hntt, Pctonc, and Eastbourne Borough Councils wrote in reference to ■Messrs. Stafford and Treadwell's account for legal expenses iucurred by the late board of trustees, and a resolution Was passed that Messrs. Stafford and Treadwcll bo written to direct 'offering to pay the account if reduced by £10 10s. Twenty shillings per horse per annum was fixed as the training fee on .the park; permits to be issued from April 1. The committee determined that no training should take place after 8 a.m. on Sundays. The secretary reported a crcdit balance of £10 Bs. 4d.; : £l7 10s. was tine for rent. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £19 13s. Bd.
