BOXING ASSOCIATION.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR NEXT TOURNA- , .J. i MENT. Mr. E. W. M'Villey presided at a meeting of the Wellington Boxing Association held in Amit's Rooms last evening. A letter was received from the Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association endorsing the disqualification for life of E. Jl'Gibbon, the same to be made general throughout tile Dominion. Tho letter also st'ate'd" that the resolutions' passed by the Conference of Buxing Associations, recontly held in Christchurcli, would be forwarded within the next few days. With regard to .the ..demand of the Wellington Boxing Association that the' Hawke's Bay Association should remove a certain name from its list of members, a matter which had, aftor much correspondence, been referred to the New Zealand Council, a communication was received stating ,that the council could not see its way to interfere with tho decisionl of the •Wellington Association, seeing that the Hawke's Bay Association had become affiliated to that (the Wellington) body. A report was handed in by Mr. J. M. Laing, manager of the AVellington team which took part in the Nathan Challenge Cup contests at Palmerston North recently, stating that the Wellington competitors made a good showing, and expressing his appreciation of tho courtesy extended to him and the members of the team in Palmerston North. ' In connection wish the tournament to be held at the Opera House on November 2i; it was stated that the star attraction would be a professional 15-round contest between W. J. ' Elliott (champion feather-weight of Now Zealand and Australia) and J. Gosling, of Wellington. The preliminary contests have been ar--1 ranged as follow':— i Bantams—J. Ivutner (Wellington) v. J. Sta- . wart (Petone). I Feather-weights—P. W. Korr (Wellington) v A. J. Icppor (Petone). t Middle-weights—G. Devitt (Wellington) v. A. t Leckie (Wellington). " ' i Heavy-weights—l. Hale (Wellington) v. J. r Cole (Manawatu). All the bouts, with the exception of that J for middle-weights, will consist of four two--1 minuto rounds, that for middle-weights to be 3 sit two-minute rounds. 2 Tho trophies for tho bantam, feather, and l heavy-weight contests will bo three guineas, . and for the middlo-weight four guineas. 1 It was also decided to make inquiries about a hall for a contest that may be arranged be- ' tween J.
