NO-LICENSE MISSION.

REV. L. M.' ISITT ON THE OUTLOOK. A large' audience was present in the Taranaki Street Methodist Church last night, when the Rev. 'L. M. Isitt delivered tho last ' of the series of No-Licenso addresses he has been giving in Wellington during the past ! few drtys. Mr. Isitt laid special stress on ,the power possessed by alcohol to .create an appetite for itself, ,and showed that in this lay a danger that no amount of regulation could do away with.. They might put a bishop in charge of every publichouse, and open the bar ovtery morning with prayer, and the alcohol would .still exert its deadly influence. Just five or six months ago a medical conference had met in London, and when they dealt with the'., subject of alcohol' ' it, was in debating whether it had any v.alue as a medicine, not whether'it was good as a beverage in moderation. .Nearly all the Churches had ranged themselves on tho side of No-License, and now the Anglican Church was adding its voice to that of tho others. The liquor party had had recourse to a campaign of misrepresentation. For instance, statements were-being'published that the Rev. Mr. Whitehousc, of Ashburton, said ho was disgusted with tho effects of No-Licenso there, whereas, said Mr. Isitt, Mr, Whitehouse had said publicly that before living in No-License Ashburton ho had riot believed in No-License, but now ho thanked God for No- ' License, and would do his best to oxtend it. A vote of thanks to the speaker was carried. Mr. Isitt will address an open-air meeting at the Queen's Statue to-dav.
