FIRE AT INVERCARGILL.
DWELLING-HOUSES AND TRAM SHEDS DESTROYED. (BT TELEGRAPH —ft! HSS ASSOCIATION,) Invercnrglll, October 22. Tlioro was a destructive lire in Gladstone.: a suburb of Inyercaigill, between three mid four o'clock this morning. Two dwellings with their contents, except a piano, together with tho Invcrcargill Trum Company's stables, were rancd to the ground. Tho; stublos contained a number of cars, and 110110 were saved. Tho lire started in tho dining-room of a house occupied by a nnrtcr named JJlick, and sproud rapidly, fanned by "a galti. No firo extinguishing appliances arc possessed by tho Gladstone Borough. / Tho insurances are:—J. Jircy's house, £175 in tho Now Zealand oflico. Slick's furnituro, £100 in Standard. J. Haber(ield's dwelling, £200 in tho South British;' furnituro and effccts, £80 in tho North' British. Tramway stables, £240; cars, £410, both in tho Standard offico.
