The Synod is deeply sensiblo of the national sin and disgrace in which tho Indo-Chinese opium traffic involves the British • Empire, and whilst thankful, in responso to China's appeal for co-operation, some ; means aro now being taken to limit the export of opium from India, trusts that the British Government will exert all tho forces which it commands to tormina to a .trade, which the British House of Comhas twice and on the last occasion unanimously declared to be 'morally indefensible.'"
