ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

YOUNG MAN KILLED. (UI TELEOIUI'II—I-RESS ASSOCIATION.) Danneyirke, October 21. At the inquest on the body of Thomas George Jackson, of the' telegraph line construction party, who was killed at Takapau yesterday, the coroner, Mr. Buick, returned a verdict of accidental death, no blame being attached to deceased's fellow-employees. The accident was caused by a heavy pole rolling over deceased, who 'by some' mischance was unable to got clear. Jackson was 22 years of age; his father is a lineman at Masterton.

SEAMAN DROWNED. Christchurch, Octobor 20. A rumour was current in Lyttclton yesterday that a swlor-belonging to the schooner Hlliu had been drowned on the passage from Lyttelton to Kaipara. Inquiries nude went to show that u telegram had been received l'roin Kaipara stating that 011 cof the seamen, named Snlliran, lind been drowned, but no details regarding the fatality were to hand. Sullivan belongs to Lyttelton, where his parents reside. The Huia left Lyttelton on Wednesday, Octobor 14, for Kaipara. ■ ELDERLY MAN'S SUDDEN DEATH. ■ ■ Hastings, Octobor 20. lienry Francis Duck, aged sixty-five, died this morning whilst chopping wood in his son's yard. The causo of death is supposed to have been heart disease.
