The Mikado, through Admiral Sperry, has assured President Roosevelt of his goodwill, and has thanked him for affording tho Japanese an opportunity of giving a new proof of their sincero attachment to Americans. ( Presidont Roosevelt, in replying, referred to the long-standing friendship between Japan and the United States.
