IN PRAISE OF THE JERSEYS.

; BIG SHIPMENT FOR DENMARK. : Says'a writer in tho "Live Stock Journal —" Some few years ago tho Danes tried a few Jerseys, but being a cautious people they did not get up a sudden furoro in their praise, but waited to see how they would rfially acquit themselves as practical and profitable dairy cattle. They have evidently stood tho test to their satisfaction, for their numbers havo steadily increased, and now the latest news informs us that the largest consignment on record has just been shipped from the island to Denmark by Mr. Lo Brocq. Four hundred Jorseys aro an unusual number to leave the island at once, and . tlio transaction shows • that Denmark means business. Tho animals have been selected chiefly for their dairy qualities. Not show points, but big yields of butter are -sought by the Danes, and therefore there is little doubt that the prices paid are modorate. These animals are not going to he housed and groomed and coddled liko racehorses, but aro to, be treated on business lines like any other farmer's cattle.
