Chrlstchurch, October 21. ■ Tho first boxing competition at Christ's College took place 011 Monday, the preliminary rounds being decided in the "afternoon and tho semi-finals and finals in tho evonin". There was a large gathering-of scholars, and a . number of old boys wero also present. Some of tho competitors shaped extremely well, seeing that the sport .has. only beon recently taken up by the scholars, and the riompetitions were so successful that it' is hoped : they will be tho forerunner of an annual inter-schools championship. lv :
