Merchants at Port of Spain, Trinidad, are protesting strongly against the aotion of President. Castro in respect to the trade between that colony and Venezuela. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce the position was described as intolerable, and tho following resolution was carried and forwarded to tho Acting Governor:—"That the attention of the Government 'bo called to the fact that the Government of Venezuela, while availing itself 'of the full advantages of this harbour and port whenever it may suit its convenience so to do,'has prohibited tho export of produce, excepting in insignificant quantity, from Venezuela to Trinidad, to the dotriment and loss of merchants hore, who in some cases have advanced moneys in respect of such produce; and that tho Acting Governor be asked to Ascertain from his Majesty's Minister at Caracas the reason of such unfriendly action on the part of Venezuela, or to take such other steps in the matter as to liscelleccj may seem it." .
