ALLEGED ILLEGAL ADVERTISEMENTS.

Tho adjourned case against Frederick Blackwell Rowe, Arthur John Moorish, and John Eugene Cullen, charged with having published certain advertisements of Frederick Leslie and, Alexander Phillips, whereby it was inado to appear that the advertisers were willing to mako bets or wagers on the results of norsn races, in contravention of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, was heard torday. The defence admitted tho formalities, and the fact that the two advertisers were well-known bookmakers in Auckland, the advertisements consisting of photographs of the advertisers, with the. notification that the 'originals were "turf commission agents. Underneath the pUotographs were the words, "Sufficient address, Auckland."
His Worship, after hearing the arguments of counsel, intimated that at present he thought that the advertising in question was in contravention of the Act, But as the matter was one of considerable importance, he would take time to consider his decision, and would deliver it in writing.
