MANAWATU DRAINAGE.
A COMMISSION APPOINTED. Messrs.' Thomson. Stipendiary of Palmcrston North; W. S. Short, solicitor, Chief Clerk of tlio Department of Roads, Wellington ; G. F. Robinson, District Road Engineer, Department-of Roads, Wellington; and C R. Vickerman, Superintending Engilieer. Public Works Department, Wellington, ,haTO been appointed a Commission for the purpose of inquiring into the desirableness or otherwise of constituting one or more united drainage districts in lien of the four existing districts, such united district or districts to include the whole or any portion of the land comprised in the existing districts, and also such other land (if any) outside the boundaries of the existing districts as may be found to bo desirable, and of formulating, if practicable, a comprehensive scheme of drainage for the Pohangina, Oroua, and Manawatu Rivers within the Manawatu, Ivairanga, and Oroua Counties. The scope of the inquiry is to include tho subject of the drainage of tho Pohangina, Oroua, and Manawatu Rivers within the Counties of Kiwitea, Pohangina. and Horowhenua, and the Boroughs of Palmerston North, Foxton, and Feilding.
